Mayfair Mayhem

Mayfair Mayhem

Let me tell you a story of an adventure through Mayfair with a friend of mine.

The story starts on a Tuesday morning with an excursion on the Elizabeth line to Bond Street. For the London Underground, the Elizabeth Line is a very delightful service, which makes sense, as it is only three years old.

Touch down in London and we head straight to Bond Street: one of the best places in London for designer boutiques, which is located just off Oxford Street. This is where the true journey begins. We stopped off at many of the boutiques: Canali, Brunello Cuccinelli, Zegna, Patek Philippe just to name a few as we made our way down the street. The best boutique we visited, although I may be biased, was the Montblanc boutique. We left the boutique as true pen connoisseurs after learning almost everything from the brand's history, to all the many intricately crafted writing instruments and the bespoke service they provide. I also left that boutique with the ability to write using a fountain pen after writing and posting one of their postcards. With my newfound powers, I sense myself purchasing one soon if temptation gets the best of me...

About halfway through Bond Street, we took a detour down Mount Street, also highly regarded for its high-end boutiques. We intended to visit the Goyard boutique; however, due to the brand's popularity, there was a queue, so we decided to leave it for another time. On our way to the boutique, we passed The Church of The Immaculate Conception, which caught our attention from the outside: we visited this church on the way back and lit some candles inside. I must say, this church had the most spectacular interior. Just take a second to admire this masterful architecture.

To save us time and our feet, we decided to get a cab down to Piccadilly Circus, where we hopped onto the underground to Knightsbridge. You can most likely already guess what bought us there: Harrods. Getting lost in Harrods, I must say has almost become a hobby of mine, and I am certainly not ashamed to admit it. Although I do know my way around fairly well now... In Harrods, we kept our business mostly to fragrances. I naturally gravitated towards the Acqua di Parma (again, definitely not biased) and had the privilege of smelling their Harrods exclusive: Oud & Zagara, which was rather pleasing, as all their fragrances are. I also had the joy of smelling a few other fragrances from the likes of Tom Ford and Maison Francis Kurkdjian before we made our way through the endless hallways.

We thought we'd check out the Prada Café for a quick bite to eat; however London seems to be a popular place on a Tuesday afternoon and they had no availability for a table. Upon hearing this, we decided to make our way back to Bond Street via the underground and back home after a lovely day in the city.

And that sums up the journey through London. Stay tuned for whatever the journey holds next...
